can I stick with it? how will it change me?
I’m spending one year dedicated to changing habits and behavior. I’ll be exploring and documenting the health benefits of yoga. I’m inviting you to share my journey of overcoming resistance to change by giving me suggestions and feedback.
I had to deal with a tremendous amount of internal resistance to even launch this project. There’s a loud, annoying inner voice constantly screaming that no one will care or want to see this, and that this project will be an embarrassing failure on many levels. So I’m slapping down that voice, and risking it. Because ultimately, I want to see what will happen more than I fear screwing it up, and I’ll never know if I never try.
I’ll post more specifics later this week. I’m still figuring out how it will all work. Honestly I expect things to evolve as I go along, and I’m okay with things being a little vague at the start.

This site documents one woman's struggle to bring about positive change in her own life through the regular practice of yoga. The point is not to be an expert or create how-to videos. The point is to share my journey as I try to incorporate yoga into my life as a new habit. How will it change me? How will I overcome my own resistance to change? Join me weekly and find out.

Regardless of how the yoga year goes, the blog template is gorgeous!

Good luck! I’ll be watching. I think this is a really awesome idea, whether it “works” or not. Also, the SIAB looks niiice. ; )
Are you going to be doing yoga every day, or just as much as possible?

Thanks, everyone! All theme props must go to the Dilectio theme designer. It’s beautiful! I plan to tweak it a bit, but I actually was working on my own fractal-esque curlicues (because I think they’re a great metaphor for change and branching paths) when I found this theme - love at first sight for sure.
Lauren, I eventually want to practice yoga every day, but I don’t think I’ll manage that at first. I’m going for as much as possible right now.

Very cool.
I’m getting ready to start a blog-documented quest for healthier living myself actually. I recently came across a group of bloggers who had used their blogs, comments, feeds, tags, flickr pools, etc etc to create a distributed support group for their own individual and unique plans to “be healthier”. I started surfing their blogs, and subscribing to their feeds; although they were all doing different things it wasn’t important - they all offered each other solidarity in the effort. I thought it was awesome (and that maybe this sort of public support/accountability was what I’ve been needing myself). And anyway … after finding this group, I find your new vlog - a similar quest by someone I actually know! coolness.
I look forward to following you at yearofyoga and will be adding your feed to the group I’ve created in my reader for the above mentioned bloggers.

Hey David! I want to see some of these other sites you mentioned. I’ll email you for links! I have a similar idea for support - we should be part of each others’ support groups for sure. I bought yearofchange.net to play with creating a social network for people who are trying to improve by doing something different. Loving the idea of a distributed support group!

Hi Cheryl!
Wow I’m glad you are doing this!
I’ve been interested (from afar) in yoga.
I will be watching with interest!
I’ve started some meditation but not full on yoga.
I hope to learn a lot from you!
FYI -
I found your site as my brother and I are starting “the diet” blogging program and he mentioned you.
Well done!
